Introduction
The Greek Scriptures (often mislabeled "the new testament") begin with Matthew's account of "the gospel"...i.e. "the good news". Written to a Jewish audience, Matthew alternates between historical accounts of the life of Messiah and His teachings. Sometimes delivered in parables, Messiah's message is a call to repentance (Matthew 4:17) and a return to covenant relationship with G-d in obedience to His Law (Matthew 5:17-19). While recognizing the authority of their position, Yeshua pronounces seven woes upon the religious leaders of His day because of their hypocrisy (Matthew 23). The book concludes with Messiah's Great Commission to His disciples (28:18-20).
