c 1476 BCE- Moses made a covenant with the Jewish people at the foot of Mount Sinai at which the people declared, "All that the LORD has spoken, we shall do and hear" (Exodus 24:7) pledging to observe the Torah's commandments ("naaseh / do") and strive to comprehend them ("nishma / hear"), while pledging to "do" also before they "hear".
1728- Rabbis Chaim and Yehoshua Reitzes of Lemberg are charged with bringing a Christian convert back to Judaism and are tortured and executed in Lvov, Poland.
1784- The Jews of Warsaw and its environs were expelled.
